A federal court ruled that the Trump administration must restore DACA. Last month, the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration improperly ended the DACA program, meaning that DACA is still intact. However, the Trump administration has not accepted new DACA applications since it first attempted to end the program three years ago. On July 17, a federal judge in Maryland ruled that the federal government must fully restore DACA and begin accepting applications. Currently, roughly 650,000 are enrolled in the DACA program and are still able to renew their status. The Migration Policy Institute estimates that about 66,000 people in the U.S. meet the qualifications to enroll in the program if it is restored.
